WHAT IS WPC?
Whey protein concentrate is a component of dairy origin obtained in the process of microfiltration or ultrafiltration. Compared to other proteins (especially plant proteins but also casein, meat or even egg proteins), WPC is distinguished by an extremely high nutritional value resulting from a large proportion of essential amino acids (called EAA) and, in particular, branched-chain aliphatic amino acids (that is, BCAAs). It is the presence of exogenous amino acids that determines the effect of a given protein on growth processes, with leucine - one of the BCAAs - playing a key role as it stimulates anabolic enzymes in muscle cells.
WHAT IS WPI?
Whey protein isolate, like whey concentrate, is a protein of dairy origin. Usually, WPI is obtained through a technological process called cross-flow microflitration (CFM), at low temperatures. Thanks to this method, the active biocomponents are not denatured; although, there are also isolates on the market created using ion exchange methods at high-temperature. The latter, despite some disadvantages, have one important advantage - they have an extremely high protein content and almost zero carbohydrate and fat content.
