SFD BERBERINE HCL is a dietary supplement containing Berberis aristata bark extract, standardised to 98% berberine HCl. This plant alkaloid has been named one of the most potent natural supplements.
WHY YOU SHOULD SUPPLEMENT BERBERINE?
INSULIN SENSITIVITY
According to some sources, berberine improves insulin sensitivity. This may be due to its effect on the expression of so-called lipogenic genes [1]. In addition, berberine, according to many authors, may act similarly to metformin - by directly affecting the activity of AMPK [2-3], an enzyme whose activation causes inhibition of glucose and fat synthesis. In addition, chronic activation of AMPK resembles the effect of intense exercise [4].
LIVER HEALTH
In one study, berberine was found to have a protective effect on the liver. Among other things, due to its antioxidant properties and by influencing the activity of enzymes responsible for detoxification [5-6].
